REGISTER AS A TUTOR!

Your dedication and generous donation of time to adult learners is a priceless gift to the Wayne County community. Thank you becoming a tutor and making a difference in someone's life.

TUTOR ORIENTATION

Tutor orientation is available monthly and is required for all incoming tutors. Orientations are typically one and half to two hours in length. A tutor guide with organizational information and tutor tips & resources is provided during or before session.

PHONETICS TRAINING

Training is provided free of charge to those willing to make a six month commitment to tutoring with Literacy Connections. This curriculum utilizes an evidence-

based process based on the Wilson Reading Systems. Emphasis is placed on phonetic foundations and a guide to curriculum is provided to participants.

LESSON PLANNING TRAINING

Active tutors are encourage to participate in this guided training session. Get assistance creating a guide for what your adult learner needs to learn, how it will be taught, and how learning will be measured.

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED

  • Speak English as your primary language

  • Have the ability to meet with an adult learner once a week for two hours
