Our program focus is a one-on-one partnership between

an adult literacy student and a committed, responsible tutor. 

Math Homework

One-on-One Tutoring

This program teaches reading, writing, and spelling to adults who read at or below a basic skills level. Students come to Literacy Connections because they want to improve job prospects, help their children in school, enroll in a High School Equivalency program, and to better navigate the world around them.

Writing on Computer

Computer

Provides computer technology skills instruction that includes:

  • Keyboarding

  • E-Mail

  • Computer Vocabulary

  • Basic Online Functions

Individual students may request assistance with specific computer technology software programs or other computer-related technologies.

Stacking Coins

Bank On Wayne

Bank On Wayne provides instruction in budgeting, banking and managing credit. Bank on Wayne encourages participants to operate within the financial mainstream and avoid costly alternative financial services.

Math

This program provides instruction in basic mathematics that may include: 

   

WHOLE NUMBERS:

  • Recognition

  • Value

  • Addition/Subtraction

  • Multiplication/Division

 

NUMBER PARTS:

  • Fractions/Decimals

  • Percentages/Ratios

Chalkboard with Different Languages

English as A Second Language (ESL)

Provides ESL classes for our International students. Wayne Community College instructors cover listening, speaking, reading, writing and processing the English language. Literacy Connections works with ESL students needing additional support  through one-on-one tutoring.
