One-on-One Tutoring

This program teaches reading, writing, and spelling to adults who read at or below a basic skills level. Different topics are explored through the one-on-one tutoring experience that may include the topics listed below.

Financial Literacy (Bank On Wayne)

Stacking Coins

Bank On Wayne provides instruction in budgeting, banking and managing credit. Bank on Wayne encourages participants to operate within the financial mainstream and avoid costly alternative financial services. Group or individual instruction is available for this topic.

 

Digital Technology 

Provides computer technology skills instruction that includes:

  • Keyboarding

  • E-Mail

  • Computer Vocabulary

  • Basic Online Functions

Individual students may request assistance with specific computer technology software programs or other computer-related technologies.

Math Literacy

This program provides instruction in basic mathematics that may include: 

   

WHOLE NUMBERS:

  • Recognition

  • Value

  • Addition/Subtraction

  • Multiplication/Division

 

NUMBER PARTS:

  • Fractions/Decimals

  • Percentages/Ratios

Math Class

ELA (English Language Acquisition)

Provides ELA classes for our International students. Wayne Community College instructors cover listening, speaking, reading, writing and processing the English language. Literacy Connections works with ESL students needing additional support  through one-on-one tutoring.

The little free library is a free book-sharing program where anyone may take a book or share a book.

Online literacy programming provides an opportunity for family engagement through our Story Time Online program and digital literacy series.

Health literacy is an important factor in an individual's ability to actively participate in their plan of care. Literacy Connections recognizes this and advocates for awareness of health literacy in Wayne County.
