Our bookstore is an internship worksite for opportunity youth, primarily placed through our partnership with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program and Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) program [formally known as Vocational Rehabilitation].

Why a bookstore?
Our goal is to create an environment for learning that feels nurturing and safe for youth to develop confidence through the mentorship program while they further their education at Wayne Community College. We believe reading can ignite a love of learning, which opens new worlds and expands opportunities for happy and successful lives.

What does an intern gain from this experience?
Interns who successfully complete the program will leave with marketable job skills, a letter of recommendation, and the confidence to take charge of their lives.
